Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Science

Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science (BNYS) is an undergraduate degree focusing on naturopathy and the use of yoga in treating bodily ailments. Naturopathy can also be called an alternative form of medicine which does not use drugs or medicines to heal or prevent. Thus, it is often non-invasive and also non-prescriptive. On the other hand, yoga uses the techniques of breathing, meditation and asanas to do the same.

BNYS is a 4.5 year course along with an internship for 1 year and those who have finished class 12 with PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) as the subjects.

Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that believes that the cause of all disease is the induction of foreign material in the body. It aims to heal the body through its own healing process, also called ‘self-healing’.

Some therapies employed in the process include acupuncture, massage, and nutritional counselling among others. Yogic sciences, on the other hand, studies the use of yoga to provide a healthy stable life. It mainly uses asanas, meditation and breathing exercises to do this. The BNYS degree focuses on these topics and their application in today’s world. This is only a foundation course from which graduates can further specialize.
